a vote for sitting with the (corporate) riff raff at the Super Bowl

The Today Show hosts didn’t waste much time working Taylor Swift into their Donna Kelce convo this A.M.,curious if she’d be sitting next to Taylor in a luxury box at the Super Bowl. Nudging that it’s been good luck, thus far. 

Donna, who appeared in every commercial in 2023, claimed she couldn’t pay the millions required for a suite at the Super Bowl, so she said she’d likely just sit in the regular seats. And why not? Her sons go to the Super Bowl just about every year at this point. It’s old hat. Why burn money sitting in a sterile box in an already pretty sterile environment?

The Today Show hosts groaned, collectively, unhappy with Donna’s populist decision to slum it in a $6000 seat, next to some vetted, safe choad from Reckitt Benkiser or Dodge. 

Donna will be fine. In fact, I think Taylor Swift should sit in the regular seats at the Super Bowl, too. America would like this. She could buy amazing tickets behind the Chiefs bench for four bodyguards and four or five friends and spend less than $200,000, even after you factor in the fees.

Or, you know. Get the tickets for free from the NFL, who clearly benefit from having her on camera. Or be on the sidelines like James Garner did in the 1970s with the Raiders!!!

Does this seem dumb to you? 

I don’t think any stalker is going to be able to pop down the stadium stairs and start bothering her at the Super Bowl. Maybe that’s incredibly naive. Maybe, in the most artificial, most expensive sports environment, a moment of quasi-authenticity would be welcome. The shots of all the celebs in the box are old. Pull out all the stops. Have some fun.

What will obviously happen? Both Taylor and Donna will be in a luxury suite. Yes?
